Whirlpool Corp. Appoints Ledford GM of Commercial Laundry

Brings added leadership strength, focused expertise to team, manufacturer says

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — Equipment manufacturer Whirlpool Corporation says it is reaffirming its long-term commitment to its Commercial Laundry business by appointing Michael Ledford senior director and general manager as of May 1.

The strategic move brings added leadership strength and focused expertise to an already robust team, Whirlpool adds.

Ledford will report to Luis Lopez, vice president and general manager of North America Laundry (residential and commercial), and will be responsible for guiding the Commercial Laundry team’s strategic direction, growth initiatives and day-to-day operations.

Whirlpool Corp. Commercial Laundry provides a comprehensive lineup of washers and dryers to coin, multi-housing and on-premises markets worldwide. Its brands include Maytag Commercial Laundry, ADC and Whirlpool Commercial Laundry.

Ledford’s appointment enhances the continuity and strength of Whirlpool’s Commercial Laundry leadership, while reinforcing the company’s dedication to delivering reliable, innovative solutions to its partners and customers across the commercial laundry industry, the company says.

Key leaders reporting directly to Ledford include Amy Gardner, director of sales, service, and parts; Andres Palomino, director of engineering; Dan Smodic, director of product and brand marketing; and Matthew Newfield, senior manager, merchandising and operations.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michael into this new leadership role,” says Lopez. “His extensive background in product, merchandising, and sales—especially within the laundry category—will bring additional momentum and insight to our Commercial Laundry business.”

Ledford brings more than 20 years of experience at Whirlpool, having held roles of increasing responsibility across product management, category analytics and merchandising. His tenure includes more than a decade of direct or supporting experience in the laundry category.

He is also a named inventor on multiple patents, including innovative laundry solutions for pet owners.

Ledford has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Georgia State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University.
