WASHINGTON — Coin laundries may see more customers in 2009, as factory shipments of major appliances continued their two-year-long downward trend in November last year, according to the latest monthly data from the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM).Vendors shipped 4.5 million units that month, representing an 8.8% decline from last year. Home laundry was the strongest performer, but still down 2.5% to 1.1 million units as washer shipments decreased 2.7% and dryer shipments went down 2.3%.Shipments for the AHAM 6, a core composite category comprised of washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, ranges and ovens, fell 8.3% to 2.9 million units. Total year-to-date shipments of all major appliances were similarly down 8.7% to 62.8 million units.
