TAUNTON, Mass. — A man allegedly used the rear end of his Ford Focus to smash open the entrance to a Laundromat early on a recent Sunday morning, according to the police.The man was attempting to make off with money from the store’s changer, police said, but the machine was out of order and empty at the time of the break-in, and he drove off.However, witnesses and video surveillance offered Taunton police a good description of the suspect and the vehicle, according to the Taunton Daily Gazette. The investigation was further aided by a police officer, who provided the name and address of a suspicious man who, earlier in the evening, was told to leave a car wash for parking his red car too close to a coin machine.According to the arrest report, when officers arrived at the man's apartment, he refused to go to the police station, allegedly striking officers with his arms and legs as they tried to handcuff him.The suspect was arraigned in Taunton District Court on charges of malicious destruction of property worth more than $250, felony nighttime breaking and entering, assault and battery on an officer, use of a vehicle in a felony larceny, and leaving the scene of an accident. Plus, a visit to an auto body shop might also be necessary.
