Speed Queen Raises Funds in Fight Against Breast Cancer

RIPON, Wis. — Vended laundry equipment manufacturer Speed Queen has once again partnered with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) in support of breast cancer awareness and research.

For every limited-edition, home-style washer and dryer pair sold between Sept. 15 and Nov. 15, Speed Queen will donate $20 to BCRF, the company says. The pink-accented machines are available at select independent retailers across the country.

“Speed Queen is proud to partner once again with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, where 91 cents of every dollar spent supports breast cancer research and public awareness,” says Jay McDonald, vice president of North American Home Laundry Sales for Alliance Laundry Systems, Speed Queen’s parent company. “We are honored to contribute to the many BCRF programs that are truly making a difference and saving lives.”

Last year, in its first partnership with the organization, Speed Queen set out to raise $10,000 for BCRF, ultimately donating $16,500 to the cause. This year, the company says it’s committed to donating a minimum of $20,000.

Already, more than $2,500 has been raised on behalf of Doolittle Distributing, a Lenexa, Kan.-based Speed Queen distributor.

“This cause is very important to us. It's hard to find someone who has not been personally affected by breast cancer, and our employees are no exception,” says Jack Doolittle, president of Doolittle Distributing. “It doesn't matter how big or small the donation—if we all pitch in, progress will be made.”

“BCRF is grateful for the continued partnership and support from Speed Queen, its distributors and its customers during such a crucial time for generating funds toward breast cancer research,” says Myra Biblowit, president and CEO of BCRF. “It’s thanks to altruistic brands like Speed Queen that BCRF can continue to fulfill its life-saving mission.”
