5. Franchise Growth Sets Stage for Tide Services Expansion, Feb. 17

The company behind Tide Laundromat and Tide Dry Cleaners says it closed out 2024 with a year defined by franchise expansion, strategic innovation and a deeper commitment to communities served.

Together, its laundromats and drycleaning locations have surpassed 200 nationwide.

2024’s standout achievement, according to Tide Services, was the landmark 51-unit Tide Laundromat franchise agreement led by multi-unit franchise veteran Barry Dubin.

4. EVI Industries to Acquire Girbau North America, March 3

EVI, a publicly traded company dedicated to the commercial laundry industry across North America, closed on its acquisition of Girbau North America, a provider of commercial and industrial laundry solutions, in early April.

EVI paid consideration of approximately $43 million in cash for Girbau NA, which has since been rebranded Continental Laundry Solutions and conducts business as usual without changes to leadership, staff, services, support or culture.

It was EVI’s 30th and largest acquisition in the commercial laundry distribution and service industry.

3. BOI Reporting No Longer Required of U.S. Companies, Persons, April 23

FinCEN (the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) issued an interim final rule eliminating Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirements for U.S. companies and individuals under the Corporate Transparency Act, aligning with a prior U.S. Treasury announcement.

The rule revised the definition of a “reporting company” to include only foreign entities registered to do business in the U.S., exempting all domestic reporting companies.

Originally due Jan. 1, 2025, BOI reporting was delayed by legal challenges, and then Treasury suspended enforcement. Small-business advocates welcomed the move but urged Congress to make the relief permanent and called for the destruction of previously submitted data.

Foreign entities subject to the rule were required to file BOI reports within 30 days of registration or publication of the rule, though no U.S. persons were required to be reported. FinCEN’s public comment period on the interim rule closed in late May.

2. WASH Multifamily Holdings Ownership to Change Hands, July 16

Northleaf Capital Partners, alongside AVALT, signed definitive agreements to acquire WASH Multifamily Holdings Inc. from EQT. Terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1947, WASH provides route-based common-area laundry services to multifamily housing and universities across North America. The company operates through 34 U.S. and Canadian branches, employs about 1,300 people, and services more than 660,000 machines in 80,000 locations, serving millions of users weekly.

WASH leadership says the partnership supports continued investment in customer service, technology, and long-term growth.

1. Visitor Registration Opens for 2025 Clean Show, March 19

Given the success of August’s Clean Show in Orlando, Fla., it’s no surprise that the opening of visitor registration drew the most reader interest of any article posted on AmericanCoinOp.com in 2025.

Clean 2025 drew record-breaking attendance since the COVID pandemic, nearly 400 exhibitors, and a strong education program on and off the show floor, Messe Frankfurt Inc. stated in its final show report.

Boasting the strongest attendance since 2019 — pegged at “over 11,000” by partner association Textile Care Allied Trades Association — it marked the industry’s most powerful return to in-person engagement in years.

“The energy at The Clean Show 2025 was electric — from the packed sessions and busy show floor to the excitement around the first Innovation Awards,” says Greg Jira, group show director, Messe Frankfurt Inc. “The record attendance demonstrates the resilience and forward momentum of our industry. We’re already looking forward to delivering an even bigger and better Clean Show in 2027.”
