In Memoriam: Harvey S. Gitlin, ESD and Greenwald

Companies will remain under same family ownership and control

AMBLER, Pa. — Harvey S. Gitlin, the founder and chairman of ESD Inc. and chairman of Greenwald Industries, died Wednesday, May 7, the companies report.

Synagogue services with interment at Laurel Hill West Cemetery were conducted Monday.

“Harvey left behind a legacy that has shaped the vended laundry industry and the companies he founded/acquired,” writes Doug Goldstein, vice president, in a bereavement notice. “Harvey Gitlin’s vision, dedication and passion were driving forces that will continue unabated under the next generation of leadership.”

ESD and Greenwald, which both offer varied payment systems used in the laundry industry, will remain under the same family ownership and control through long-term careful planning, Goldstein adds.

Surviving Gitlin are his wife, Phyllis; daughters Michelle Goldstein and Amy Gitlin; sister Norma Jacobs; three grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.

Shiva will be observed today through Wednesday at the residence of Doug and Michelle Goldstein, with services scheduled at 7 p.m. each day.
