SOUTH GATE, Calif. — Before the baseball playoffs began earlier this month, commercial laundry equipment and parts distributor PWS unveiled a simple contest: choose the eventual World Series winner and get the cost of your parts order refunded.
Of the 119 PWS customers who entered, 28 selected either the American League’s Cleveland Indians or the National League’s Chicago Cubs to win the best-of-seven World Series.
Of the 28, 20 picked the Cubs and eight chose the Indians.
Following last night’s Game 2 victory by the Cubs, the Series is tied at one game apiece.
“One order on Chicago is over $700, so I imagine that customer will be rooting hard for the Cubbies to win the World Series,” says Brad Pollack, PWS co-president. “All winners will receive a refund on the orders they placed before the playoffs started, 24 hours after the World Series (is) over.
“Whichever team wins, this was a fun promotion that the customers seemed to really appreciate.”
