Pizza and Diaper Venders, Credit Card Tech on Display at NAMA Expo

LAS VEGAS — New vending machines that accept credit and debit cards, guarantee product delivery, save energy and vend a wide variety of products were on display in Las Vegas at the National Automatic Merchandising Association’s (NAMA) annual vending machine expo, giving self-service laundry owners a variety of new choices when it comes to extra-profit centers. The machines on display included one that delivers hot pizza cooked in 90 seconds, as well as machines that dispense diapers, baby bottles and toys. The “digi-touch” touch-screen vending machine provides a 360-degree view of the available products.“We’re seeing a lot of new technology, which means consumers can use credit cards, debit cards, or pay keys, and purchase everything from nutritionally balanced food and beverages to pacifiers and diapers,” says Richard Geerdes, NAMA president and chief executive officer. “Even better, most consumers don’t realize how ‘green’ our industry is, because thanks to vending, you don’t have to get in the car to go anywhere, and there’s no energy being wasted in a convenience store.”New remote vending machine monitoring helps keep trucks off the road and reduces unnecessary stops, while “energy miser” programs and LED lights also help save money.
