Marietta Laundromat First in SE to Use Near-Waterless Washer, Manufacturer Says

Machine uses polymer beads that absorb stray dye, stains

MANCHESTER, N.H. — 4 Minute Laundry, Marietta, Ga., is the first Laundromat in the Southeast to use an environmentally friendly, ultra-low water laundry system marketed by Xeros, the manufacturer reports.

The laundry has been using the near-waterless system for its wash/dry/fold, commercial laundry services, residential and commercial pickup services, as well as making it available to walk-in customers, Xeros says.

The system uses recyclable polymer beads that absorb stray dye and stains, which Xeros says results in a gentler cleaning process while using less water and chemicals.

By using dramatically less water and 50% less energy than traditional washing machines, Xeros says it aligns well with 4 Minute Laundry’s eco-friendly initiatives.

“We are continuing to find ways to reduce water consumption, be energy efficient and eco-friendly as a company,” says Chuck Kenney, owner, 4 Minute Laundry. “We installed the machine in the front of our facility by the window to showcase our green initiatives, and it has become an attention-grabber that is helping to bring in more business. People actually stop by to watch the beads massage and clean the clothes.”
