Mac-Gray’s LaundryView Wins MITX Award for Best Mobile Technology

WALTHAM, Mass. — Mac-Gray Corp.’s LaundryView monitoring system recently received the 13th annual Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX) award for best mobile technology.Winners were chosen by a panel of more than 100 judges, including members of academia, the media, chief technology officers, webmasters, industry analysts, content providers, strategists, producers, marketing executives and creative directors.“The judges chose LaundryView Lite ahead of other entries for how the technology enhances laundry users’ experience in a mobile environment,” says Bob Tuttle, Mac-Gray’s executive vice president of Technology & Information Services. “Mac-Gray, as the largest provider of laundry services to the nation’s colleges and universities, recognized that students are highly mobile, and we designed LaundryView Lite to allow them to receive the system’s monitoring benefits through a cellular device. The response to the technology from students across the country has been overwhelmingly positive.”The LaundryView system was introduced four years ago and has been installed in more than 2,000 laundry rooms at colleges and universities. It connects laundry machines to the Internet and allows students to check the availability of washers and dryers. In a recent survey that generated responses from more than 1,600 students, more than 95% indicated that they used the system multiple times each month and would recommend it to others, Mac-Gray says.
