Lucy’s Fluff and Fold Opens Second Store

ORANGE, Calif. — When opening a second location for Lucy’s Fluff and Fold Laundromat & Drycleaning, business owners Gary and Marty Slizgi looked to Electrolux Professional equipment, the manufacturer reports.

The couple’s first Lucy’s vended laundry business opened in 2006 with a 2,000-square-foot store in Huntington Beach, Calif. After replacing the equipment in 2010, the business grew substantially, according to Electrolux. At that point, Gary Slizgi thought of expanding his business while keeping a focus on fluff and fold.

The purchase of a 2,400-square-foot location here allows the Slizgis to reach a range of customers, according to Electrolux. The new store is close to both low-income and high-income neighborhoods. New office buildings also present the potential to draw in additional clients.

The Slizgis consulted with Stanton, Calif.-based Sterling Equipment Sales, a distributor that helped the couple purchase their Electrolux equipment and “ensure a flawless design and smooth startup,” according to Electrolux.

Electrolux’s equipment claims to help with water conservation, which is important for Gary Slizgi, who says, “We’re out in California and water is not cheap.”

Electrolux’s Compass Control and AWS (Automatic Water Savings) determine the weight of wash loads and then deliver the correct amount of water, according to the company, which claims these features can save laundries up to 50% on water. The dryers have EcoPower, which senses how dry a load is and can then reduce heat. This can save 15% on energy and reduce wear on clothing, Electrolux.

“With the advantages Electrolux brings with energy and water savings, the equipment quickly pays for itself,” says Gary Slizgi.
