LaundryCares Preps for Free Laundry Days

North Carolina, New Jersey events planned

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. — The LaundryCares Foundation of the Coin Laundry Association was already preparing for a scheduled Oct. 8 Free Laundry Day in Elizabeth, N.J., when it added another event this week in North Carolina following Hurricane Florence.

The Williford family, which owns several self-service laundry locations, will open The Wash House, 106 Country Club Dr., Fayetteville, N.C., for the day-long event in support of local and area residents impacted by the recent hurricane.

On Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the 4,500-square-foot store will offer the free use of washers and dryers, plus food will be provided.

“People are in need of our services more than ever and many have lost it all,” Luke Williford says in a notice announcing the event on the Foundation’s website. “A free meal and laundry will go a long way to show them love in a time of need.”

The LaundryCares Foundation is maintaining a list of open Laundromat locations in the region. It can be found here: https://laundrycares.org/resources/fl-ga-nc-and-sc-open-laundromats/.

The Oct. 8 Free Laundry Day in Elizabeth, N.J., will be hosted by three stores: Super Bubbles aRe Us, 640 3rdAve. (the main event); Bubbles aRe Us, 333 Rahway Ave.; and Bubbles aRe Us, 31 Westfield Ave. LaundryCares is accepting pre-registration to expedite service during the first come, first served event.

There are opportunities to volunteer to serve or to donate to the cause, and more information is available at the Foundation’s website.
