Gilman Succeeds Father as RICHCLEAN President

Distributor serves laundries, dry cleaners in Virginia, Maryland, DC

RICHMOND, Va. — Matthew Gilman is the new president of laundry and drycleaning distributor RICHCLEAN, having succeeded his father, Barry Gilman, in the position earlier this summer, the company’s Board of Directors reports.

Barry Gilman, who had held the top management position since the company began in 1975, decided that it was time for him to scale back his activities and responsibilities, according to a company press release. There has been a long-time strategy in place for Matthew Gilman to take the president’s seat once Barry retired.

RICHCLEAN serves the cleaning industry in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia with quality supplies and expertise for dry cleaners, laundries, lodging, healthcare, coin-ops and more. It operates from a 20,500-square-foot warehouse facility just outside Richmond.

The younger Gilman has “been learning the ropes” for more than 20 years and the RICHCLEAN board decided he was ready to step up to the leadership post.

“I am proud of Matthew’s accomplishments over the years and have full confidence that he will successfully lead RICHCLEAN going forward,” says Vernon Norris, board chairman.

Norris adds that Barry Gilman “will still be around, fulfilling various roles and offering advice and wisdom when needed.”
