NEW YORK — Laundry service franchise Mr Jeff has welcomed Peter Stern to its team as the new managing director in the United States.
With more than 20 years of laundromat industry experience, Stern will play a critical role as Mr Jeff pushes to become the premier U.S. laundry service company through building a store network with stellar operators, the company says. Mr Jeff announced its intention to expand into the United States in April.
Mr Jeff says it has modernized the task of laundry in more than 30 countries through a 48-hour pickup and delivery mobile app-based service. It has started a pilot project to open several flagship hubs inside existing Clean Rite laundromat locations in New York and Ohio. Its first such hub, in the New York City borough of Queens, opened in late summer.
Stern’s expertise includes store operations, finance, business development and innovation.
“The Mr Jeff business model along with its technological innovation, marketing expertise and ability to incubate strong store operators into this industry is the most compelling force of change I’ve seen in my 20 years in this industry,” says Stern, who led the due diligence effort securing a multimillion-dollar investment in Mr Jeff.
Prior to joining Mr Jeff, Stern was senior vice president of Laundry Capital and managing director of Clean Ventures, and owned/operated the Great American Laundromat in the Bronx, one of the highest grossing laundries in the New York metropolitan area, the franchisor reports.
At earlier points in his career, Stern specialized in forensic accounting, fraud investigations and post-acquisition dispute analysis for PricewaterhouseCoopers, worked in commodities trading for International Specialty Chemicals, and led product and business development for a video auditing and AI company called Arrowsight.
“Peter brings the knowledge and experience that Mr Jeff needs for a successful expansion into the United States,” says Eloi Gomez, co-founder and CEO of Mr Jeff. “He has more than 20 years of experience in the laundry sector in this territory, and we fully trust him to help us lead this exciting project. He is now a key piece of the team.”
