Distributor Martin-Ray Organizes Gathering for Industry’s Women

Colorado event included keynote speaker, networking opportunities

DENVER — As the vended laundry industry continues to draw entrepreneurs, increasingly, these new business owners/investors are female. With that in mind, Jodi Way, territory sales representative at Speed Queen distributor Martin-Ray Laundry Systems organized a first-ever get-together for women involved in the vended laundry business.

The March event at a local restaurant included lunch, a keynote speaker and networking opportunities. It attracted 16 attendees, ranging from those already in the business to those planning to open Laundromats.

“It’s exciting to have created a venue for women in laundry in the Denver area to get together and discuss challenges we face in the industry,” says Way, adding that feedback from the group was positive and there is a desire to set up similar events on a regular basis.

The featured speaker, Brian Wallace, CEO of the Coin Laundry Association, discussed 2018 laundry trends, then hosted a question-and-answer period following his talk.

“We had a great speaker, good conversations, and are looking forward to continuing to meet as a group and learn from one another,” Way says.

Plans call for the group to gather again in September. Way invites those interested to e-mail her at [email protected] to learn more about the group and to join the mailing list for upcoming events.
