Dexter Strike Ends

FAIRFIELD, Iowa — Striking workers at Dexter Apache Holdings Inc.’s laundry factory began returning to work last Thursday night after a new five-year contract was ratified.Members of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1293 approved a deal that moved the ratification bonus into a pay hike in the contract’s first year. The employees will also receive the equivalent of four hours’ pay for ratifying the deal. In addition, everyone’s health insurance will be reinstated as though they had not been on strike, and the plan will remain unchanged for three years.
