Companies Bring Cashless Car Wash Tech to Clean

NEW ORLEANS — If you’re in the market for some type of cashless solution for your laundry, the Clean Show floor is the place to be. Two firms with ties to the car wash industry are making their first Clean Show appearance, and they have their cashless systems in tow.   WashCard Systems is displaying a credit card-payment system that can be used on any machine. There’s no limitation on the number of readers that can be installed, and because the surface-mounted equipment doesn’t replace the existing coin acceptors, a coin laundry can keep coin acceptance while introducing the new technology. The system uses encrypted WiFi, and it’s not tied to a single manufacturer. (For more information on WashCard’s offerings, check out the July issue of American Coin-Op.)IDX Inc. is showcasing the Wicket System for Laundromats, which also allows operators to go cashless and keep coins in play. The system can create a cashless loyalty program without the back-end support of computer systems and cumbersome databases, the company says. The system integrates with Standard Change-Makers’ change machines for purchasing and revaluing cards. The Wickets Night Entry System was also set up on the show floor. This system allows coin laundry customers to use the facilities after hours when the store is locked.
