Clean Laundry to Open Its First Stores in Texas

Licensed brand also adding locations in Arizona, Wisconsin

URBANA, Iowa — A handful of new Clean Laundry stores will be opening soon in Arizona, Wisconsin and, for the first time, Texas, the brand reports.

Two stores are under construction in Austin, and opening is anticipated in the coming weeks. One is located in a strip center on West Parmer Lane in far north Austin, the other on Norwood Park Boulevard.

“Forget everything you know about a wash-and-fold Laundromat,” says Ethan Akin, co-founder of Clean Laundry. He started the Clean Laundry concept with his father, Phil Akin. “Our mission is to deliver a clean, safe, and modern experience that is unlike any other.”

That includes state-of-the-art machines capable of washing and drying loads in less than an hour and a mobile app that allows customers to operate, pay for, and track the progress of their laundry. Free high-speed Wi-Fi, large-screen HDTVs, and USB charging stations are some of the amenities.

In Arizona, a Clean Laundry store will open soon in the Safeway shopping center on South 16th Street in Phoenix. The state’s first location opened in November 2020 on North 19th Avenue inside Fry’s Shopping Center.

“The first Phoenix location has been well-received, and the additional location will fill a similar need,” says Tim Guenther, co-owner of both Arizona locations. “We are excited about providing a safe and clean laundry operation for customers in the Phoenix area.”

In Wisconsin, construction is under way on a Clean Laundry store on Miller Park Way. It will be the second location in the state, joining a Madison store that opened in May 2020.

The Akins opened the first Clean Laundry store in Waterloo, Iowa, in 2014 and later began licensing the brand name, concept and standards of excellence to other store owners and investors. Now the brand operates under the Clickstop Inc. parent company, with over 20 locations across the country.
