California City May Cut Back on Laundries

SAN PABLO, Calif. — To some coin laundry owners, there are always too many stores.In San Pablo, Calif., there is an overabundance of coin laundries, discount retail and dollar stores, check-cashing stores and smoke shops along the commercial corridors, according to Avan Gangapuram, planning manager, the Contra Costa Times reports.It seems that some residents want more general stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues.The city is looking at five alternatives to deal with this concern, one of which would prohibit certain businesses, such as coin laundries, from being in certain areas.
