Are Coin Laundry Customers Too Fat?

NEW YORK, N.Y. — New York City laundry customers get no respect. New Yorkers who patronize coin laundries recently had to endure some weight-related stress when they visited their favorite stores: a guerilla ad campaign suggesting they’re too fat. The accusers: The Ad Council and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).These groups placed tiny T-shirts in dryers throughout the city urging laundry customers to “Shrink a few sizes.” The T-shirts appeared to be sized for infants. The ad campaign sends the customers to HHS’s website where they are further encouraged to “shed those holiday pounds, reduce their risk for obesity and lead a healthy lifestyle.”
