Survey: South Sees Biggest Coin Laundry Sales Boosts in January, Calendar Year 2014

CHICAGO — Coin laundry store owners and operators in the South kicked the new year off with healthy year-over-year sales last month, up an average of 8.0% over January 2014, according to results of this month’s American Coin-Op StatShot survey.

Operators in the West also reported healthy January year-over-year sales gains, up an average of 5.0%, while operators in the Midwest reported only an uptick of 0.4%.

Store owners in the Northeast were the only ones to see a slight dip in January year-over-year sales, down 0.3%.

Survey: All Regions Report Coin Laundry Sales Gains in December

CHICAGO — Coin laundry owners in the Northeast ended 2014 on a strong note, posting the largest average increase—7.1%—in year-over-year sales in December among all regions, according to results of this month’s American Coin-Op StatShot survey.

December 2014 sales in the South were up an average of 5.9% compared to December 2013. Store owners in the Midwest and West also posted gains, up 3.2% and 1.8% on average, respectively.

Survey: November Sales Higher in Three of Four Regions; Average Front-Loader Price Lowest in Northeast

CHICAGO — Year-over-year coin laundry sales in the Midwest were up 8.0% last month, the highest among all regions, according to results of this month’s American Coin-Op StatShot survey.

Store owners in the West and South also reported strong November year-over-year sales, up 6.4% and 5.3%, respectively, while those in the Northeast saw sales dip slightly, down 0.2%.

StatShot: Midwest Operators Post Strong October Sales, Highest Average Dryer Prices

CHICAGO — Coin laundry operators in the Midwest had a strong October, as year-over-year sales in the region were up 9.3% last month, according to results from American Coin-Op’s StatShot survey.

Some in the region attribute the sales increase to oil field and pipeline work in their area, while one respondent says that he/she is seeing new customers due to a competitor closing.

“Market looks good,” says a Midwest store owner, “however, electric rates will increase again ... Water and sewer [rates have] also increased.”

Survey: September, Third-Quarter Coin Laundry Sales Up for All Regions

CHICAGO — September year-over-year sales for coin laundry operators in the Midwest was up nearly 8%, the largest increase among all regions, according to results of this month’s American Coin-Op StatShot survey.

“We have seen an increase in self-serve customers,” says one operator from the region. “Our wash-and-fold business is steady with increases according to project work at the local oil refinery and pipeline going through Northeast Ohio.”

“Fuel prices are down so customers have more money to spend,” says another operator there.

Survey: West Reports Strong July Sales but High Utilities Cost

CHICAGO — Sales were heating up for coin laundry stores in the West as operators there posted the strongest year-over-year sales gains among the regions last month, up 4.4%, according to results from this month’s American Coin-Op StatShot survey.

Also posting year-over-year sales growth in July were operators in the Northeast (3.6%, on average), Midwest (2.3%) and South (1.9%).

Tempering its sales increase, the West reported paying the most for utilities last month, with the average cost as a percentage of gross being 30.9%.

Survey: All Regions Post Better Year-Over-Year Sales in June, 2nd Quarter

CHICAGO — Every region posted year-over-year gains in coin laundry sales in June, with operators in the Northeast seeing the largest increase (6%), according to results from this month’s American Coin-Op StatShot survey.

Operators in the South and West posted similar sales gains, up 4.8% and 4.5%, respectively, while those in the Midwest posted a modest gain of 1.4% over June 2013’s sales.

Second-quarter (April, May and June) sales for Midwest operators were also tepid, up 0.5%, over the same period last year.

Survey: May Year-Over-Year Sales Bloom in All Regions

CHICAGO — Coin laundry owners in the South posted the strongest year-over-year sales results in the country in May, up an average of 8.5%, according to results of this month’s American Coin-Op StatShot survey.

Store owners in the West trailed close behind, with their May year-over-year sales up 8.3%. Operators in the Northeast and Midwest posted slight gains of 2.5% and 0.5%, respectively.

Survey: April Showers Bring Better Coin Laundry Sales for All Regions

CHICAGO — April year-over-year sales for coin laundries from all regions were up, with store owners from the South reporting the strongest gain, up 6.1%, according to results in this month’s American Coin-Op StatShot survey.

The West also reported a healthy sales gain, up 5.8%, while store owners in the Midwest (1.5%) and the Northeast (1%) reported modest growth.
