WASHINGTON — The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) have co-published two short guides on employment background checks that explain the rights and responsibilities of the employer and the job applicant during the application process, the FTC reports.
“The FTC is pleased to work with the EEOC to help ensure that employers and potential employees have a solid understanding of their rights and responsibilities,” says Jessica Rich, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
WASHINGTON — The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) has released a voluntary guidance document for the labeling and packaging of liquid laundry detergent packets to help reduce the number of children exposed to the product, the association reports.
The goal is to provide the laundry products industry best practices in the labeling, packaging and design of liquid laundry packets, ACI says.

Alliance CFO Bruce Rounds accepted the award at a banquet in Milwaukee. This is the second consecutive year the company has been honored by the program, last year winning a special award for “Market Leadership.”
RIPON, Wis. — Huebsch has recently added Rochester, N.Y.-based Empire Laundry Machinery to its distribution network in New York state, the company reports.
As an authorized distributor, the company can now provide Huebsch commercial laundry equipment to Laundromats and on-premises laundry accounts, according to Huebsch.
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — WASH Multifamily Laundry Systems, provider of laundry facilities management services for multi-housing locations, has recently opened the WASH Technology Center in Rancho Dominguez, Calif., a facility the company says will serve as a “think tank” for its information technology (IT) team.
WASHINGTON — Apartment market conditions weakened a bit in January compared with three months earlier, with three indexes below the breakeven level of 50, according to the National Multifamily Housing Council’s (NMHC) January 2014 Quarterly Survey of Apartment Market Conditions.
The Market Tightness Index fell to 41 from 46, with 56% of respondents reporting unchanged conditions, while 31% say conditions are “looser” than three months ago, according to the NMHC. The index last indicated overall improving conditions in July 2013.
RIPON, Wis. — Alliance Laundry Holdings LLC, the parent company of Alliance Laundry Systems, has signed an agreement to acquire Primus Laundry Equipment Group. Terms of the pending transaction were not disclosed.
Primus Laundry Equipment Group is headquartered in Gullegem, Belgium, with production facilities in Pribor, Czech Republic, and Guangzhou, China; and sales offices in France (Lyon), the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Spain (Barcelona) and Hong Kong.
